CEU and CEC credits are available for taking Art Colony classes!  Also,  most Art Colony classes qualify for college credit when approached as independent study projects in conjunction with a degree program. Interested students should consult with their counselors prior to enrolling.

The Grand Marais Art Colony

Since 1947, the Grand Marais Art Colony has cultivated a relationship between outdoor inspiration and artistic pursuit inspired by the surrounding wilderness and Lake Superior.  Featuring year-round classes for the novice to professional artist, high-quality studio access, and seven inclusive events and exhibits. The facilities include visual arts, clay, glass, and printmaking studios. The Art Colony is a sanctuary for the creative spirit, providing artistic guidance, exploration, and space to grow.

for Empty Bowls

All sessions are a $5/person fee and made pieces are donated to support the Empty Bowls fundraiser, November 10 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Eric Thomas Emerging Artist Award
Congratulations to Cassie Burkett and Samantha Scalise, selected as this year's Emerging Artist Award Winners!  This scholarship provides a Cook County highschool student with the opportunity to take an Art Colony class, all expenses paid.

Are you looking for an art-making experience for your family or group of friends? Call us to plan something today! Enjoy a half-day, one-day, or two-day private class with a local artist instructor. A variety of options are available from printmaking to fused glass to painting.
