The Grand Marais Art Colony
Nurturing Creativity on the North Shore
Since 1947, the Grand Marais Art Colony has cultivated a relationship between outdoor inspiration and artistic pursuit inspired by the surrounding wilderness and Lake Superior.  Featuring year-round classes for the novice to professional artist, high-quality studio access, and seven inclusive events and exhibits. The facilities include visual arts, clay, glass, and printmaking studios. The Art Colony is a sanctuary for the creative spirit, providing artistic guidance, exploration, and space to grow.

To learn more about the Art Colony, listen to this story about our historic facilities: History Speaks on WTIP.
Student testimonal: "This was my first experience at the Grand Marais Art Colony and it was wonderful!  I felt inspired by my fellow students, my talented teacher and the gorgeous area of Grand Marais!"
