Art Excursion: Twin Cities Tour 
April 24 - 26, 2015 

The Art Colony is pleased to host a weekend art excursion to the Twin Cities. The group will take in George Morrison's Modern Spirit exhibit, visit the home of a Minnesota art collector, explore the private art collection of the Minnesota History Center, and take a guided tour of the famed Northeast Minneapolis studio buildings. Nurturing Creativity on the North Shore
 
Since 1947, the Grand Marais Art Colony has cultivated a relationship between outdoor inspiration and artistic pursuit inspired by the surrounding wilderness and Lake Superior.  Featuring year-round classes for the novice to professional artist, high-quality studio access, and seven inclusive events and exhibits. The facilities include visual arts, clay, glass, and printmaking studios. The Art Colony is a sanctuary for the creative spirit, providing artistic guidance, exploration, and space to grow.

Eric Thomas Emerging Artist Award


Open to youth who are currently sophomores or juniors (or the equivalent) in high school in Cook County.

The Grand Marais Art Colony and the Thomas family are excited to announce the creation of the Eric Thomas Emerging Artist Award, in memory of Eric Thomas (1956 - 2013).  This annual scholarship will provide full tuition and cost of materials for a young Cook County artist to attend a Grand Marais Art Colony class of their choice.

Applications must be submitted by April 15.
